Wings and Waves and Roller Derby

Before the girls Girl Scout Troop starts selling Girl Scout Cookies they have to come up with how they want to spend the money that they earn. This year they decided to go to Wings and Waves, and they earned all their money, so we went a couple of weeks ago.

We were there for 4 hours, and I hardly saw Violet. Her and Sonia were off riding the big slides over and over again, which is impressive because to get to the slides you have to climb about 9 flights of stairs carrying the innertube.

In their case, the double innertube.....

The little slides are fun too, when you need a break from the climb to the big ones.

This slide is a no tube, single person slide.  I was very impressed Hazel did it, and came out smiling!

A big smile!

This is most of the troop, we are missing a couple in this picture.  Here they are waiting for the 200 gallon water bucket to tip over....

And here they are getting SPLASHED!

That night, after playing all day in the water and climbing 9 million stairs, the girls and I went to a roller derby in Salem.

A gal I work with plays, and it was her championship game, so I decided to introduce the girls and myself to the sport of roller derby.  It took about half the game to figure out the rules, but once we figured those out it was pretty fun.

I did have to make the girls quit reading the program they gave out though, because some of the girls names and the teams names were not something I wanted them to see or repeat...i.e one of the teams names was the "Panty Raider". Hmmmm....

We ran into an old friend...

My coworker (below) Billie Jo and her team The Dolls of Anarchy, won the championship! Yay!

It was a long day, but a fun day. We may just have to invest in some Dolls of Anarchy fan gear and catch some bouts next season.
