The New Chick

We lost our  chicken Ramona this last week, or I should say Violet's chicken. We are not sure what happened, except maybe old age. We have had her for 2 years, so I guess you could say she was part of the farm family. As opposed to the fryers who aren't around long enough to become "family". Of course Violet was sad. She shed a few tears, plucked a few feathers for the keepsake junk drawer in her dresser, and then asked if she could get a new one......
Violet and Ramona

Let me introduce you to Priscilla. Yes, Violet named her herself. And yes I do believe she knows the name because of Priscilla Presley. But I don't think the chicken is names after Priscilla Presley. Priscilla is a Buff Rock Orpington.

This is what Priscilla will look like when she is grown

In other cuteness, this is Hazel after a hard day playing on a wonderful sunny spring day. She had been in bed about 2 minutes when this picture was taken.

Rest in peace Ramona. Priscilla will be beautiful!

That picture of Hazel is so cute. These warm spring days are wearing me out too.

Awww...RIP to Ramona, and welcome cute little Priscilla! Sweet dreams to Hazel. Looks like Violet has a soft cast now, eh?
