I woke up yesterday morning at 4 am to a snotty coughing 5 month old. I got back to sleep at 5:15 only to wake up a half an hour later because I had to get ready for work. Usually this is fairly easy but this morning Violet woke up at 6, also coughing and snotty. I got ready, packed up the girls, and miraculously got out the door on time. On my way over to my moms house to drop off the girls I had this over whelming feeling that I should stay home and take care of the coughing and goopy noses myself. So I called my boss from my moms driveway and then called my mom from her driveway to let her know, and we turned around and went home. This started our off schedule lack of sleep day. For some reason Violet would not take her morning nap. Which means Hazel didn't get any good naps because Violet was noisy and grumpy and letting us know about it. Finally about 1 we put Violet down for a nap, this one took. Unfortunately right before this Hazel had taken a 15 minute speed nap and was up and ready to talk to me. Violet woke up an hour and a half later and "helped" me fold clothes by unfolding all the clothes I had already folded. Hazel finally got a substantial nap at 5 when I stared making dinner, which I was bummed about because I wanted to put her down for the night at 7. But I didn't dare wake her because I was actually accomplishing a task. After eating and cleaning up dinner I woke her up to feed her baby cereal. But she hasn't figured out the whole swallowing solid foods thing neatly yet and my sweet Violet wanted to help, which proves to be very messy. After the sister bonding it is BED TIME for Violet! I gave Hazel to daddy and Violet and I read books. The cereal must not have filled the little tummy up because I could hear Hazel in the other room getting fussy, so I cut book reading time short. But after I sing Violet her song we have melt down, because somewhere between turning the light off and laying Violet down her pacifier disappears. So I go rescue Troy from Hazel and he goes to look for the mysterious pacifier. After finding it and turning on The Chipmunks Christmas CD, Violet is FINALLY down for the night. Hazel follows suit about a half hour later. And then my "night chores" begin, as I go through the house putting back everything Hurricane Violet has swept out of place. I get to into bed at 9:30. But Violet wakes up at 12 because she bumped her head, and 3 because she can't find her pacifier because she is sitting on it. And Hazel wakes up at 11 for a pre midnight snack and once again at 4 am, because I am sure she got to much sleep the night before with the late nap and early bed time. I feed her again hoping she will sleep for at least another hour, which works. But at 5 I get up and go up stairs to watch TV with Hazel, because she is ready to talk and be up. So I am hoping today everyone cooperates, and takes naps together. Thankfully the coughs have calmed down a bit and the snot is not flowing as freely.
