The New Chicks

These 2 are suckers for chicks, little fuzzy chicks at Wilco. So when we went for a few things that DIDN'T include chicks, and we walked in and saw all the troughs of cute little fuzzy chicks, of course we had to come home with a couple.  Meet Esther and Astrid.

Esther is the yellow one, she is an Ameraucana, she is Violet's

Astrid is a Silver laced Wyandotte, she is Hazel's

Let the poo continue at The K's Green Acres!

Helping

You might call it child labor...I call it cheap labor teaching my children the value of hard work and learning skills that will come in useful later on in life

The Rodeo

This is our 3rd year going to the St.Paul Rodeo, and I have to say it is quickly becoming one of my favorite traditions!

We ride a few rides....

(a great view of the arena from the ferris wheel)

Eat the food.... in Hazel's case a gigantic corn dog! Yummy!

 Watch some entertainment..

Like the rope trick guy...

...and the rodeo clown

Meet some of the rodeo court...

And of course some guys falling off some big 'ole bulls! Never gets boring!

And to top it off we got to go with Grandpapa and Uncle David.  If any of ya'll want to go to the rodeo with us next year we'd love to go with you too!!

The Zoo

Troy's family came to Oregon for a visit in early July and we got to go play at the zoo for a while and then we went to the St. Paul Rodeo on the same day. We are par-tay animals!

I some how did not get any pictures of all 6 grandkids and Grandpapa together, but here's 4 out of the 6. A bunch of cute kids if you ask me!

Speaking of cute kids, here's one with a hippo

Here Violet is with cousin McKinley, again, somehow did not get ANY pictures of Kenndal. Aunt Laura FAIL!

Photo op!

Yep, if you look closely Violet is playing with poop. This was a which animal goes with which poop game.

Close up pic with a bald eagle. Just makes ya want to sing the National Anthem!

Leaving a Mark

Wow! I've got some 'splaining to do. It's been summer, crazy busy twisty turvy summer.  I'll try and catch you up in a few blogs.

With all this sheetrock showing, it's like a world of blank canvas, so we let the girls decorate a part that will not be painted over, but just covered up.  So in 100 years when this house is remodeled again they will see that a couple of goofy girls lived here.

Either Violet is on her tip toes or Hazel is short...or maybe a mixture of both.

And in case you were curious about what the people in 100 years will find when they remodel, here is what will be commemorated forever....Unicorns pooping rainbows. You're welcome 2115.

Just Some Interesting Tid Bits

In the middle of all this remodel there is this special place that my sweet husband has preserved for me.  We have been measuring the girls heights there since they were  a year old. I am very thankful Troy is so handy, because it's right next to where the new bathroom door is going to be.

(It's located on the left side..See the purple in the pic above, it's next to the purple in the pic below)

Here is the pile of wood that was salvaged from the gutting of the rooms. On one fun Saturday I got to pull all of the nails and screws out of all that wood. It ultimately resulted in me feeling the need to get a tetanus shot, because I walked into a nail that was sticking out of the end of one of them. 4 hours and about a million nails later we had a pile of reusable boards. It's the least I can do, since my husband/ contractor has to do all the thinking, planning, and HEAVY lifting.

I just love the old rafters! It's fun for me to look at them and think about what may have gone on in this old house back in 1908 when it was built.

Is it snowing in our house you ask? Well no, that is the dust I keep referring to. We weren't even doing any demolition at this moment and there was dust floating around. I was just taking a picture of Violet, not even aware that it was there.

I've got a bunch of daredevils in my family.

May Day

This year we decided to go old school and do a little May Day fun. I found this 6 pack of Marigolds in little individual trays and thought they would be fun, so the recipient could keep it a little longer. The girls decorated the "basket" paper, put some tissue paper for a little flare, and we used gift wrap ribbon as the handle. Put it all together...

and voila, you have a cute little May Day basket that humans go nuts over.

We took one to each our neighbors, it worked well as a "welcome to the neighborhood" present too, since almost our whole neighborhood had a turnover in the last year and we have only 2 original neighbors. Violet got caught, and the guy loved it.

Hazel putting a basket on the door handle and ...

And hiding! We had so much fun, I think we may make this a new tradition.

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

We went to the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm a couple of weeks ago, and it was Ah-may-zing!!!!
Then you put my pretty girls in the tulip fields and it just gets better.

Picture Time

The girls like to take my camera and document various things they do in their room....

This is Polly Pocket church. I hear Beast gives a pretty inspirational sermon.

This is Bible class, see the teacher has a book in her hand...we'll call it the Bible.

Next we had picture day for the Generation Girl Dolls.
