My sister in law Sarah came to visit this week, so we went to the Oregon Zoo. It was a typical Oregon spring day, unpredictable rain and chilly. But it was a perfect day for zoo, the animals like cooler weather so they come and play a little more. Here is most of our day......

I dressed the girls in their cute new skirts and flip flops. I was kicking myself later in the day when it was raining and puddles were pooling all over the ground. Ooops. Big Mommy fail! Fortunately I am raising Oregonians and it didn't bother them much. I did bring jeans to put on under Hazels skirt. So maybe not a TOTAL Mommy fail! =)

Here is an elusive Laura picture. I loved this part. It's called Lorikeet Landing, you go in with these little cups of sugary liquid and they just fly right up to you and land on you.

Bats are ugly. But they apparently have really strong toes. He is hanging by one leg on the tip of his toes and he's asleep. Now that's talent, almost makes up for his ugliness. Almost.

This guy loved the Zoo Lady that stands out in the viewing area explaining stuff. Anytime people would get to close to her he'd jump forward on his hands and stare you down (pic #1) and start shaking his head and opening his mouth (pic #2) and pace back and forth and show his teeth (pic #3). It was quite interesting. I'm just glad he was behind glass and fence.

Violet and the monkey in love with a human.

The zoo is getting ready for their Dinosaur exhibit they have going through the summer. Violet was enthralled with whatever this one is.

Sarah, Hazel, and the Alligators. Violet wouldn't go near the glass on this one. Amorous monkeys yes, 10 foot Alligators no.

My new favorite part of the zoo, that just opened recently, is the Africa part. Here the girls are with some of the new additions. These guys were soooo cool! This was right when it started raining for the first time that day. What little troopers I have. =)

Yes, this is just a cheetah. BUT...it's a cheetah in Portland, OR. Pretty nifty if you ask me! He was not impressed with the rain, he would like to go back 150 degree Africa if you don't mind.

Sarah and the girls with the elephants.

I thought it was nice of this guy to pose with us. He was very accommodating.

This little guy thought Violets hands were the coolest thing he'd ever seen. He'd follow her hand all over that glass and when she'd stop he'd gnaw at the glass.Violets always been very good at making new friends, the animal kingdom is apparently no different than a playground full of 5 year olds.

And here is about 5 minutes after we got in the car. All in all it was a very fun day. We had a wonderful time! If anyone ever wants to go to the Zoo, we'll jump in the car!

Fun times! I love the pictures, it looks like the zoo has changed quite a bit since I was there last.
Those are great pictures. Sounds like a fun time had by all. Hope Sarah enjoyed it as much as Hazel and Violet did. Portland really does have a great zoo, don't they! Love ya, Mom aka Gma
