A little over a week ago I picked Parler up and noticed she was verrry skinny. After a couple of days of noticing she wasn't eating and that I hadn't cleaned out the litter box I took her to the vet. He felt a lump in her stomach and did an xray to confirm that there was in fact something blocking her intestine. In order to determine what it was he could do exploratory surgery, but if it was inoperable they would just close her up and put her to sleep, or if it was operable it wasn't a gaurenteed she would survive the surgery to remove what ever it was, and it would be very expensive. I decided to take her home and spend a little more time with her.
This morning, a week and 4 days later, she was no longer eating and was having labored breathing. I have been a nervous wreck all week, watching her, waiting to see what happens, wondering what I should do. The labored wheezy breathing was my answer.
I lost my fat cat today at 11:55 am. I held her and told her thank you for being with me for these past 11 years. She has been my friend and comfort through many things and I will miss her purr, her kisses, her middle of the night playfullness. She was such a great cat. She didn't require a lot of attention, and didn't like to be cuddled, but when she would crawl up on my lap or lay on my feet I knew she loved me as only she could.

I'm so sorry, Laura. She really was such a great fat and sassy, yet very tolerant, cat. We'll miss you Parler!
It's hard to lose a pet you've had for so long. :-( I'm sorry.
Sad for you - it's amazing how much love you can have for a cat . . . I still miss George.
