As a result of Hazel's passing out episode last month she had an EEG done this morning.
It was a total of about 90 minutes. For the first 20-30 minutes the technician spent mapping out where he was going to put the electrodes.
The next 30 or so minutes he spent cleaning each spot for each of the 28 electrodes and sticking them to their mapped out place.
Once they were all in place he had her watch a strobe light for about 3 minutes, breath in and out rapidly for 3 minutes (to try and make her dizzy), just lay quietly and relaxed in the dark room for about 15 minutes. He really wanted her to fall asleep, but that was a no go. She did really well with all the instructions and I was very proud of my respectful, attentive, able to follow directions 6 year old.
Finally he had to take all 28 electrodes off of her head and wash out all the sticky glue that he had used. As a result you have an "aesthetically pleasing configuration of hair that humans go nuts over"....name that movie. Even with crazy hair she's adorable!

I can just picture her being perfectly calm and sweet during the whole thing. :-)
