The Coast

We went on our first family trip to the beach over spring break.

We got there about 4:30 and they were in the water by 5:00.
For anyone who grew up going to the Oregon Coast, you understand that this is a right of passage, to get soaking wet and numb on a 60 degree day playing in the ocean.

Right after this picture.....

They looked like this, the wave got to them before they could get out of the way, but all this did was encourage them and give them permission to get wetter and sandier.

While the girls were gettting soaked, poor Troy was trying to get the (cheap) kite I bought to fly. Let's just say this falcon was not in the mood to fly.

After getting cleaned up we went to Mo's for dinner and had some fish n' chips and clam chower. Yummy!

Then it was down to the water again, where the waves were calmer and there wasn't so much wind.

This is a hut made of drift wood. We came down here a couple of years ago and there were a bunch of little huts, but these hut builders were over achievers, this one may have had indoor plumbing.

Just a pretty picture of a couple of sweet girls

This was the view from our room at The Sailor Jack Beachfront Inn. The girls played out in that yard for about 45 minutes until the sun went down. It made me question why they can play in a plain old empty flat lawn for that long, but I have to beg them to go play outside in their own yard that has a tree house, and a tree swing, and a swing set, and a virtual farm. Hmmmm....maybe that one will have to be one of the mysteries of life.

After watching Once Upon A Time, we played a rousing few games of Bananagrams that Violet got for her birthday. I really like that game.

The next morning we were down on the beach again exploring, with rules in place that you DON'T GET WET, at all. Period!

The tide was out so we got to see all the rocks and the sea life that is in them. We found live star fish and hermit crabs...with crabs in them.

After we spent an hour or so on the beach, we packed up and headed to the shops. I didn't take any pictures, well, 'cause we were busy shopping.  The girls had a whole lot of fun going to a rock and gem store and finding rocks/agates to add to their collections, and I especially loved taking them to the Rocking Horse and finally (after years and years of wanting to ) buying doll house furniture for an actual doll house. Childhood dream accomplished!

We had a fabulous time. Violet wrote it best...." I LOVE THE COAST"
