Train up a child...

You always like to think you're doing a good job when the one book your child asks to read before bed every night is the Bible. Violet loves her Bible, that she got from Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Butcher, for her 1st birthday. It is such a joy to me to see her get excited to read about and Adam and Eve, Noah, Daniel and the Lions Den, Jonah, and especially baby Jesus. Last night we branched out and read about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego , and Elijah and the Prophets of Baal testing their "Gods". These are such fascinating and exciting stories.

I remember hearing these stories as a child, and thinking of them as just that...stories. But reading them to her now as an adult, I am seeing them differently. These are actual events that happened in history. These men and women were men and women of faith, and learned from these experiences so that I can learn from them too. I hope that I have faith like Daniel, so I don't get devoured by my "lions" in life, I hope that I can learn from Jonahs lack of obedience, so I don't get swallowed up by a bad decision as a result of disobedience to God. And I hope someday that Violet will look at the picture of the baby Jesus and realize that he grew up to be the saviour of her soul. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there. Love you all!
What is one of your favorite Bible stories?

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
Proverbs 22:6

I love the story of David and Goliath because it reminds me that "I can do ALL things through Him that strengthens me". I don't have to fear any Goliath in my life.

I love the story of Dorcus even though it's only a few verses. I think she can teach us a lot about using our talents for good and how to impact others lives.

My favorit story is Esther. She went from a poor girl to a princess. What little girl wouldn't love that story? But then she fought for her people even though she might lose her life. I have the same experience to Laura, I see the bible in a whole new way now that I am older. I know exactly what you mean. Love ya!

My favorite story when I was a kid was Jonah and the whale, but that was cause of the whale. Now love and live by the story of David and Goliath. There is nothing I can't do with God by my side.
