Derby Days

The girls got to go to Oma and Opa's house this past weekend and spend the night. Oma and Opa live up in the hills of Yamhill, it is beautiful and full of fun things for grandkids to do! This weekend they also took the girls to Yamhill's Derby Days. It is an annual summer happening full of food, derby car races, and everything wonderful about small town celebration. The girls had a lot of fun....

They LOVED their fabulous face painting! Violet wore hers for 2 full days, including Sunday to church. She really dislikes having her hair put in pigtails, I think she is absolutely adorable. So on Sunday I bargained with her that if she wanted to keep her butterfly "tattoo", i got to put her hair in pigtails. I primarily wanted to put her hair up because in order for her to keep that butterfly on her face I was going to have to forego washing her hair, which desperately needed washing and you can hide a lot in pigtails. It worked, we both got what we wanted. The Newberg Old Fashioned Festival is this weekend, I am fairly certain that a butterfly and a lady bug will be making a reappearance on those cheeks.

The girls with their Opa. The girls love him, and are so blessed to have such wonderful grandparents!

Hazel with her yummy flavore ice (and 1/2 picture of Oma) =)

More yummy ice. I love that this picture has a tractor, hay, and a happy blue faced girl having fun at a festival. Those are the things childhood are made of!
THANK YOU OMA AND OPA!

Fun! Can't wait to do the Old Fashioned Festival this weekend! We'll have to think of something manly to get painted on the boys' faces.
