There was excitement aflutter in the K Household yesterday, it was the day of Violet's first horseback riding lesson. From the moment she woke up and every 20 minutes until we left the house she was asking "when are we leaving". I am going to have to buy a couple of more plaid shirts, because apparently you cannot ride a horse without one on. The one got a rip in it, and I was going to make her change, but she was flabbergasted and a bit heart broken, because this is her only plaid shirt, so I let her wear it rip and all.
Meet Sydney, she is going to be the horse will usually be riding. She is very sweet.
Sydney and Violet had a little bonding time before the riding began.
Remember the plaid shirt....I guess it doesn't have to show, you just have to wear it.
She was lead around for a while, getting the feel of the bouncing and swaying that goes on with riding and also learning how to tell Sydney what to do. I was very impressed by how Violet listened and took instruction. Not surprised, just super impressed and proud of her. She was not afraid at all, or if she was she did not show it in the least.
Towards the end Stacey, her teacher, took off Syndeys lead and Violet was totally in control of the situation. Stacey just walked beside giving instructions. This momma was beaming!
Violet even got to lead her back to her stall.
There was a lot of beaming going on yesterday, just look at the cute pigtail headed smile.
I foresee more horse riding lessons this coming June....if envy had a name it would be Hazel....

Looks like she had a wonderful time! Big, big smiles!!
So I guess we know what Hazel wants for her birthday. Love, Mom aka Gma
I was about that age when I first rode. Believe me, she will NEVER FORGET this experience!
Kudos, Mom, for being the best Mom in the whole world! (At least Violet thinks so!)
So awesome. She looks like a natural! Love that first picture with her hand on her hip!
I fully approve of the horse's name, though I dare say MY sydney has a little more sass and vinegar in her than the horse =) I may look up lessons around here for the kids. I KNOW Isabelle would love it!
