The camping post....finally

Back in July we went camping....tent camping....as in up in the woods, far from civilization, with giant bugs, and no bathrooms or running water just right down a path. Are ya gettn' it? If you couldn't tell, this was my first time doing this.

This was our camp site, very pretty. All shade in the morning and evening, all sun in the afternoon.

Here is the mess hall. Our friends, the Brenners, are champion campers. They brought the kitchen and skill on how to use it.  Thank you Becky for knowing how to cook on a coleman stove, that's why you're the Girl Scout leader and I am not.

Troy knew about this place from previous camping excursions out there to dirt bike, he chose it because of this fun swing someone put up a couple of years ago.

Because our campsite was all sun all afternoon we took a trip down to the creek where the parents chillaxed in the shade....

And the kids played in the water with the dogs.

Here we are back at camp in the evening, hanging by the fire snacking on potato chips. Doesn't get much campier than that.
Our first night sitting by the fire after the sun went down we heard a coyote howl, then about 5 minutes later we heard a whole pack running and yipping and howling. It was a bit unnerving.  But being an adult, I couldn't go run and hide in the tent, I had to act all adult like and start telling mild fibs about how coyotes are like the size of puppies and they won't come near us because they are more scared of us than we are of them. Right?

Later that night at about 3 am we were all awakened to an elk call. The elk called about every 3 minutes for what seemed like hours, but it was probably just an hour....but it was 3 am. He was super annoying, I wanted to complain to the manager.

Did I mention the BIG bugs....that bite!

The girls learned some basics on gun safety and usage

Remember that thing I said about no running water or toilets.  Well, my husband heard my concern before we left and built me a toilet.

Just up this path, a ways from the camp site to the right.....

...Was our commode. Perfect for the 2 days we were there. However, in the middle of the night, that short ways up the path is a bit daunting in the moonlight, so one might choose to just go behind the tent with their back to the big dark forest and go potty.  Ones imagination does funny things peeing in the dark woods.

Which is why I own a motor home. Sure looks like you had fun though. Love, Mom aka GMa

Love the creek nearby . . . I don't like camping without a bathroom - that's usually my only requirement. My imagination works just like yours . . . being an adult about it is over rated :)
