Back in October, after Disneyland but before Halloween, I got to go on a field trip with Violet to the Bonneville Fish Hatchery in the Colombia Gorge.
I have to admit, an hour and a half one way bus ride with a bunch of 3rd graders was not too appealing, but spending the day with Violet was, so I volunteered to chaperone.
When you first walk into the fish hatchery you are greeted with this sign....
spawning at a fish hatchery means a guy with a knife cutting open a female salmon and dumping out all her eggs. On the day we went they were not doing this, so we only got to see it on an educational video playing in the lobby, not the guys actually doing this.
Fish hatchering (not a word..until now) is interesting but doesn't necessarily keep the attention of 3rd graders.
Feeding fish does.....
(in this picture is Violet, her friend Sonia, and Ronald. Ronald is mildly infatuated with Violet.)
On our way home we stopped at Multnomah Falls.

We did trek up to that bridge, it is beautiful and noisy up there.

We had a really good day, a long day, but a good day. (....I didn't realize until I was going through the pictures for this blog, how often Ronal made sure to place himself next to Violet. Every picture they are in together, he is there. He's got it bad!)

Poor Ronald. Tell him to wait about 10 years and maybe she'll look at him. Love, Mom aka GMa
She has such a pretty smile!
