She is the most wonderfully beautiful, ornery, sassy, amazing, smart 8 year old I know, and I am so glad she's mine.
We had a birthday party on Friday night before her birthday so she could celebrate with Great Grandma, who gave her a really cool watch. A real one, with hands and everything, and heart shaped skull and crossbones on the face and band. Very "Un-Great Grandma like" you say....well when she found it she didn't see the skull and crossbones part, ha ha, she only saw the hearts, but Violet LOVES it!
Grandma and Grandpa came over too, they were leaving the next morning for Branson so we had to party some with them.
They gave her the cowboy boots she now wears every waking moment.

She had friends Olivia and Sonia spend the night on Friday night. They watched Flicka and didn't go to sleep until midnight. I thought they had gone to sleep at 10, when I went upstairs and said "You guys need to turn the TV off and go to sleep. You can stay up and talk a while, but try to go to sleep soon", and then at 12:30 Violet was waking me up asking if they could have a snack. Lesson learned...never assume that silence means asleep. They were just really good at talking quietly.
We went to Naps for a doughnut.....
Then we zoomed on over the the Critter Cabana in Wilsonville to get her the betta she has been begging for since before Christmas.
She chose wisely

Then came the party......
She got her first Monster High Doll. I have been trying to avoid the Monster High phase, but I failed. They are a cross between Barbie and Garbage Pail Kids. Ok, maybe not that bad, but they are interesting. She hasn't wanted to dye her hair pink and pierce anything, so I guess I'm not that worried about them anymore.

A new big girl bike, now she doesn't have to knee herself in the chest to ride a bike. =)
Troy gave all the party goers super extreme mega pushes on the swing. We like to get our party guests dizzy and nauseated.
Her birthday dinner of choice was Chinese food at Eden Gate. Oma and Opa joined us. Her final gift of the day was 4 horse back riding lessons. She starts on April 6th.
Finally, after a jam packed day of fun we closed the day with the movie Oz in pajamas. Violet and her friend Natalie stayed awake through the whole movie, Hazel fell asleep about half way.
All in all it was a fabulous day celebrating the birth of our first born. We are truly blessed.

What an awesome celebratory weekend! I love that "she didn't see the skull and cross bones only the hearts" haha! Can't wait to hear how the lessons go. We love you Violet, Happy Birthday!
So much fun! George is green with envy that she now has cowboy boots. And what it the world, a monster High doll?! I have never heard of that, sounds purty crazy!
Quite the fun birthday! Nice to spread it out over a couple days! We love you, Violet!
